Investigation Summary

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on August 21, 2008, an employee was approximately 15 ft up on a ladder and was completing the installation of a neon sign on a newly constructed retail business building. A coworker stated that he turned to speak to the employee, who he did not look like he felt well. As the coworker asked the worker if he was okay, the employee lost consciousness and fell backwards off the ladder, landing on the asphalt driving strip. The employee incurred skull fractures and a fractured vertebra. He was transported by ambulance to CRMC in Fresno, where he was later removed from life support. The employee died in the hospital.
