Employee Finger Crushed, Amputated Between Pipe and Roller

At 7:30 a.m. on July 17, 2007, Employee #1, a machine operator for Aerotek Professional Services, received a right index finger crush injury while working as a temporary worker for the Claude Laval Corporation. Employee #1 was cutting a groove in a 14-inch diameter stainless steel pipe when his finger got crushed in between the pipe and the inside/outside groove rollers. This occurred as he was holding the pipe with two hands while trying to straighten it to ensure that an even groove was made. Employee #1 was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno where a decision was made to amputate the finger due to the extensive damage.
