Employee's Thumb Amputated When Struck by Hammer

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on February 28, 2007, Employee #1, a contractor, was pounding metal stakes into the ground as part of a net system being installed in a mandarin orange grove. He slipped on the wet ground as he was using the pounding tool and the tool amputated his right thumb.
