Employee Is Injured When Struck by Gas Cap

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on March 14, 2008, an employee was cutting a pressurized gas line connection when the cap popped off the end, striking the employee in the face. The employee had lacerations to his lips from the cap, and some of the escaped pressurized gas entered his body through his mouth causing subcutaneous and mediastinal air in his body. The employee was transported to Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, CA. The employee was hospitalized and treated for laceration.
