Event: 07/11/2008
Employee Falls Through Skylight, Sustains Multiple Injuries

On July 9, 2008, Employee #1 was on the roof of a county fairgrounds exhibit building. He was there to assist coworkers in reinstalling a large exhaust fan after it had been blown off its frame. As Employee #1 was walking on the roof, he fell through a skylight, to the concrete floor 20 feet below. Employee #1 said he was unable to distinguish the fiberglass skylight from the metal rooftop and walked directly over the skylight, which did not support his weight. He sustained multiple injuries, including a broken jaw, a concussion, and a fractured wrist. He was hospitalized.
