Employee's Arm Injured When Caught in Auger

On March 20, 2007, Employee #1 was loading cranberry pomace into a hopper with a screw auger at one end. During the process, he used his left hand to reach into the unguarded hopper. His fingers were caught by the unguarded auger and his hand and arm were pulled into the auger screw mechanism until the safety stall feature stopped the auger from turning. He was hospitalized with injuries to his arm.
