Employee Amputates Finger in Table Saw

At 7:30 a.m. on August 30, 2007, Employee #1 was ripping an approximately 6-inch wide by 8-foot long by 0.125-inch thick board with a table saw. Shortly after the initial cut, the board flexed. Employee #1 put his right hand on the board to steady it. However, Employee #1 touched the 10-inch saw blade with the middle finger of his right hand. Employee #1 amputated the finger at the first knuckle above the palm and was hospitalized for treatment.
