Employee Amputates Thumb Tip While Using Poultry Cutter

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 25, 2007, Employee #1, a customer service employee, was working in the meat department assisting customers. Employee #1 was cutting chicken for a customer on the electric poultry cutting machine. Employee #1 was cutting the chicken wing when it slipped and he cut the top portion of his right thumb. The electric poultry cutting machine has guards, but Employee #1 forgot to keep fingers out of reach of spinning blade. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital and released a few hours later.
