Employee Finger Amputated When Contacts Punch Press

On December 05, 2008, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Employee #1, a regular employee of Pacific Boat Trailers located at 13643 5th Street, Chino, Ca received partial amputations to her right index, right middle and right ringer fingers when when her right hand was caught in the point of operation of a Piranha P70 Ironworker Punch Press. Employee #1 was treated and released from Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton, Ca after she had surgery. The Division was notified by the Chino Valley Fire Department on December 5, 2008, at 3:32 p.m. Employee #1 was operating the Piranha Punch Press located in the Welding Department. Employee #1 was punching holes in a flat bar steel with her hands approximately 2-3 inches from the point of operation. Employee #1 was attempting to move the flat bar steel forward when the Piranha Punch Press came down on her right hand. The employer manufactuer boat trailers.
