Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202448890
Event: 04/11/2008
Employee Is Injured When Framed Wall Falls

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 11, 2008, an employee, a foreman, was examining the bottom of a framed wall attempting to determine why the floor bolts were not lining up. The framed wall was being held in the upright vertical position by a chain attached the framed wall and the bucket of a backhoe. There were also about six coworkers holding this framed wall in the upright position. The employee was bent at the waist when he was examining the bottom of the framed wall. He was facing the framed wall, south, when the full weight of the framed wall fell onto him. The estimated weight of the wood frame was about 1,000 lbs. At the time of injury, the employee was wearing safety boots, hard hat, gloves and safety glasses. The employee was hospitalized and treated for a fractured back.
