Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202446845
Event: 06/07/2007
Employee injured when shot by nail gun

At approximately 8:45 a.m. on June 7, 2007, Employee #1 was using a scissor lift to nail a 4 by 6 post underneath the top plate and trusses of a building. His left hand was operating the scissor lift and his right hand was operating the nailer. When Employee #1 finished nailing the post, he kept the nailer in his right hand. He was lowering the lift when he lost his balance and slipped. As Employee #1 attempted to grab the guardrail, the nailer went off shooting a 3-1/2 in. long nail into his chest. Employee #1 was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for a week for treatment of chest injuries.
