Worker Removes Machine Guard and Suffers an Amputation

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on October 31, 2006, a worker was cleaning under a food (batter) machine. He removed the guard to obtain better access to the area that surrounded the machine. The worker placed his hand under the machine to clean it while it operated. His hand got caught in the auger and he was hospitalized, having sustained a middle finger amputation.
