Employee Is Injured When Struck by Falling Cans

On August 31, 2006, Employee #1, a forklift driver exited off the forklift to pick a gallon can up off the floor. Employee #1 bent over directly next to the side of the depalletizer that had a partial pallet of gallon cans on it. Employee #1 was bending over, when the depalletizer operator turned the machine on. The depalletizer cycled and it struck the top layer of the cans causing them to fall off striking Employee #1 in the back of the head causing a small contusion. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. Employee #1 later returned to hospital for his injuries, and was hospitalized.
