Employee Is Injured When Struck by Vehicle

On October 26, 2006, an employee, a laborer, was lowering utilities for street paving preparation. The employee walked to the curb to mark the distance from the curb to the manhole cover, when the employer's traffic control vehicle backed up, striking and dragging the employee approximately 12 feet. The employee suffered serious hip injuries for which he was hospitalized.
