Employee Is Injured in Fall

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2007, an employee, a mason, was finishing a recently poured section of the 30-ft by 60-ft concrete pad. The employee was at the edge of the pad, when he slipped and fell off a 5-ft wide by 30-ft long section of the super structure of the concrete plant that was 21 feet above the ground. The mason sustained severe head trauma and was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. There were no fall protection systems or the standard guardrail system being used at the edge of the pad. The employee was hospitalized and treated for a concussion.
