Employee Complains of Chest Pains, Later Dies

On December 6, 2006, Employee #1 went to Health Services Department at International Paper complaining of shortness of breath and chest pains. She was sweating and pale. Her oxygen levels were checked using oxygen saturation method and breathing was measured at 24 to 28 breathes per minute. Her blood pressure was checked and it was good. She was transferred to New Hanover Regional Hospital by the company's ambulance. After reaching the hospital, the company was notified that Employee #1 had died. On February 14, 2007 an autopsy was performed, and the cause of death was cited as being Bilateral Pulmonary Thromboembolic.
