Event: 02/25/2009
Employee's Fingers Are Amputated in Chain and Sprockets

On February 25, 2009, an employee was using a rag to clean the area around the unguarded chain and sprocket. Apparently, the rag that the employee was using to clean was pulled into the chain and sprocket, causing the employee's right hand to come in contact with the moving chain and sprocket. The employee sustained partial amputation of his right thumb, index, and deep laceration to his right middle finger. The employee was transported to Gardena Memorial Hospital and then transferred to the Western Hand Center, where he was treated for his injuries.
