Event: 12/18/2007
Employee Is Injured When Foot Run over by Service Truck

On December 18, 2007, Employee #1 was providing services to Saint Mark Episcopal School when he stepped out of the vehicle before it came to a complete stop. Employee #1 was attempting to get a jump start when he exited the vehicle, trying to pull up the trash bins. Employee #1 slipped in front of the moving wheels on the passenger side of the truck. Employee #1 was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital by the paramedics where he was later admitted for treatment. The extent of the injury was initially diagnosed as a compound fracture of the right foot. However, Employee #1's condition became more serious, which led to an amputation of the lower right foot. The Division has determined the injury was caused by Employee #1 as he exited the vehicle prematurely before it comes to a complete stop.
