Event: 10/29/2007
Employee Is Injured When Truck Overturns

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on October 29, 2007, Employee #1 was working as a shuttle driver for Parsec, which was an incorporated company that transports cargo containers by railroad. Prior to the accident, Employee #1 had just picked up a 53-foot container from a customer and had returned to the terminal. The container was loaded with six rolls of paper, with a gross weight of about 6,000 lbs. each. Another truck driver, employed by JB Hunt, was proceeding through yard at the time and witnessed the accident. Employee #1 was attempting to make a U-turn so that he could back into a vacant space and park. At this point, the container flipped on its side, lifting the cab of the truck, and then slamming it to the ground. The paper rolls inside the container had shifted toward the driver's side while the U-turn was being made, causing the container to lose balance and tipping it over to its side. Employee #1 was hospitalized with a concussion.
