Employee Is Killed When Pinned Between Trailer and Gates

On June 28, 2007, Employee #1, a dockworker, was unloading cattle gates from inside of a roadway trailer. A coworker stated that the gates had two racket straps around them. They tested the weight of the gates prior to releasing the first strap. They then tested the weight again to see if the load was stable and if they could support the weight. As Employee #1 unhooked the bottom strap the coworker went to unhook the strap from the side of the trailer. The gates shifted, pinning Employee #1 between the gates and the side of the trailer, killing him.
