Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202486320
Event: 11/06/2007
Employee Fractures Hip in Fall

On November 6, 2007, an employee, a computer operator, was inside the metering room of the West Sacramento facility preparing to place postage on telephone bills. Needing an empty plastic pallet, he grabbed one off a pile of pallets. In the process of trying to move it, his foot became entangled in plastic shrink-wrap and strapping that was at the base of another pallet and next to the pile of pallets. The employee upon becoming entangled fell to the floor and was given aid by coworkers until the emergency personnel with the West Sacramento Fire Department arrived. The employee was transported to Kaiser North and underwent surgery to address a fracture to the right femur. She was released from the hospital on November 10 but was transferred to a rehab center, which she left on November 21.
