Employee Drops Granite Slab on Feet, Sustainsfractures

On June 4, 2007, Employee #1 and a coworker were moving slabs of granite from a hallway to the fabrication area. To move the slabs, an individual slab was tilted forward just enough to allow a forklift mounted boom with clamp to be placed over the slab. After moving one slab, Employee #1 returned to the hallway. The slabs were resting on the floor and leaning against the wall. Rather than waiting for his coworker, Employee #1 began to tilt the next slab forward and when he realized he could not hold it, tried to move out its way but the slab fell and struck both feet. Employee #1 sustained fractures to his left foot that required surgery. Employee #1 was released from the hospital on June 11, 2007.
