Employee Is Struck by Forklift and Later Dies

On April 17, 2007, Employee #1, a supervisor, was working in the same area as a forklift cleaning up. The forklift had a load on the forks, and the forklift operator backed it into the yard. He turned and drove forward, where he dropped the load. He then put the forklift into reverse and backed up around 100 ft before swinging the unit towards another building. He stopped and started to drive forward, when he looked to his left and saw the employee lying on the ground. He stopped the forklift and got out, then realized that the employee had been struck by the forklift. The Woodland Fire Department responded and arranged transportation to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. Employee #1 died on April 18, 2007.
