Employee Turns and Falls, Fractures Femur

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on March 13, 2009, Employee #1 was standing at the corner to assist children crossing the street to attend Plaza Vista Elementary School in Irvine, Texas. As she waited, she placed her crossing sign against the pole of the street stop sign located behind her. Around 7:40 a.m., the employee saw children approaching her corner. She turned to grab her crossing sign and fell. She called some of the kids over to assist her and she was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Employee #1 suffered a midshaft right femur fracture but was not hospitalized.
