Employee Sustains Lacerations When Cutoff Saw Kicks Back

Employee #1 was cutting a 12-in. plastic pipe with a gas-powered cutoff saw. After cutting through half the pipe, Employee #1 attempted to roll the pipe forward to cut the rest. The blade bound and kicked back because the back part was jammed. The saw kicked backwards and up into the Employee #1's pectoral muscle, causing serious lacerations. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
