Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202465282
Event: 06/25/2007
Employee's Knee Is Injured by Nail Fired from Nail Gun

At 2:30 p.m. on June 25, 2007, Employee #1, a framer, was working at a construction site of new homes. He was using a Hitachi 3.25-inch nailer, Model Number NR83A2, to install 2-inch by 4-inch backing on trusses inside a house. Employee #1 was on a beam and moved from one position to another. This caused him to lose his balance, but he did not fall. His finger was on the trigger of the pneumatic nail gun. As Employee #1 caught himself, the nail gun apparently brushed against his leg and a nail fired into his knee. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital, where he was hospitalized and treated for five days. The supervisor was working in the garage of the same house at the time of the accident.
