Employee's Ankle Is Fractured in Fall from Ladder

At 11:08 a.m. on May 28, 2008, Employee #1 was climbing an extension ladder to access a roof 22 feet above the ground. He was carrying an aluminum document holder (8 inches by 12 inches by 0.375 inches thick) in his right hand, while simultaneously holding the rail of the ladder. The document holder dropped, and he lost his balance. He fell off the ladder, falling more than 20 feet to the ground. He landed on the second rung of the ladder and sustained a fractured right ankle. He was hospitalized at the regional trauma center for treatment and was discharged on June 10, 2008.
