EMPLOYEE DIES AFTER STRUGGLING WITH A SUSPECTED SHOPLIFTER

At approximate 11:00PM on November 8, 2007, Employee # 1, a regular, fulltime employee, loss prevention agent, of RITE-AID Corporation becomes ill after struggling with a shoplifter. Employee #1 was an active participant during the incident. Employee #1 started foaming at the mouth and suffered a possible heart attack. Autopsy report confirmed history of hypertension and the cause of death to be Atherosclerotic heart disease.
