Employee Fractures Leg and Arm in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on September 11, 2006, Employee #1, a structural mechanic was working on top of C-17 aircraft skin at building Number 52, Column C-D. Working from an A-type nonadjustable ladder, the employee was drilling holes on top of the skin. The employer had used the ladder for about 3 years at the work area. It was about 5 ft tall, with rubber shoes on the legs. Employee #1 fell from the top of the ladder and fractured his left femur and his left arm. He was taken to the LB Memorial Hospital for treatment and surgery on his hand. The ladder was in a good condition at the time of the accident.
