Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on May 8, 2008, Employee #1 was recharging the air conditioner on a Case farm tractor. The engine of the tractor was shut off. In order to recharge the air conditioner the engine needed to be running. He did not check to see if the tractor was out of gear. Instead of getting in the cab of the tractor to use the key to start the engine, he stood on the floor standing between the tires and put a screw driver on the solenoid of the starter. When the tractor started, it rolled backwards and ran over him. Employee #1 was killed.
