Employee Is Killed When Stuck by Falling Evaporator

On November 28, 2005, Employee #1, was demolishing a hydrostatic Evaporator on the site at Phelps Dodge Smelter in Playas, New Mexico. While shearing one of the metal legs on the Evaporator with an excavator with a shear attached, the evaporator came down on top of the employee. Employee #1 was killed.
