Employee Is Injured While Using a Saw

On September 28, 2005, Employee #1 was working from a one buck tubular welded scaffold, cutting a section of concrete block. He was operating a Stihl TS 400 Cutquick cut-off saw with a 14-in. diamond blade. He was cutting into the concrete block wall to remove a section in between a window opening. As he was cutting the block, he lost control of the saw and the blade cut him on the chest. He received a severe laceration, approximately 6 to 7 inches in length, 2 inches in width, and 2 inches in depth. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
