Employee Is Severally Burned by Hot Asphalt

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 12, 2007, Employee #1 and a coworker, asphalt lugers, were moving a 55-gallon drum of hot asphalt. They were not wearing any personal protective equipment to protect the eyes, face or body. They lost control of the drum and it tipped over and spilled the hot asphalt. Employee #1 lost his balance and fell into the hot asphalt. He suffered first, second, and third degree burns to his face, arms, legs, chest and hands. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
