Employee's Foot Is Injured When Caught by Lift Gate

On June 27, 2006, Employee #1 was loading and unloading appliances at a metal recycling facility and was standing on the lift gate of a Nissan Bobtail truck. He had pressed the on-off switch to elevate the lift gate. His right foot became caught between the lift gate and the bed of truck, since the switch does not stop movement until the lift gate reaches the bed of the truck. Employee #1 received bruises and contusions to his foot.
