Employee Is Killed in Fall from Scaffold

On June 6, 2006, Employee #1, a construction laborer, was dismantling metal scaffolding from the exterior of a three-story apartment building. Employee #1 was standing on a fully planked platform, 3 feet wide, elevated 17.83 feet, when he attempted to drop a scaffolding frame that was 36-in. by 80-in. to the ground. When Employee #1 released the metal frame, it caught on a metal ring on his tool belt and pulled him off the scaffolding to the ground below. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
