Farm Worker Injured Back in a Fall from a Ladder

On October 9, 2005, Employee #1, a farm worker was part of crew hand-harvesting olives at an orchard outside Orlando when Employee #1 fell from a ladder. Employee #1 had climbed up to the 8th step or so on an aluminum ladder and began picking olives. As Employee #1 reached to the right the Employee felt the ladder shift to the left. As the ladder fell Employee #1 tried to grab a tree branch but could not hold on and fell about 8" feet to the ground. Employee #1 sustained a fracture to the back from the fall and was released from the hospital on October 13, 2005.
