Employee Receive Electric Shock While Working on Power Line

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on October 6, 2008, an employee and a foreman were removing protective covers from a 6.9 kV power line. The employee was removing a horizontal piece of the protective cover while reaching out from a metal system type scaffold. In the process of removing the cover, the employee received an electrical shock. There was a possible entry burn on the employee's right sleeve, and exit burn on the employee's right pants leg. The employee and the foreman were wearing the following personal protective equipments at the time of the accident: 50-cal suits, cotton shirts and blue jeans, hard hats, protective hood on head, and 24 kV rated gloves. No protective sleeves were used or available on the site.
