Employee Is Killed When Caught Between Shuttle and Dryer

At approximately 11: 45 a.m. on July 03, 2006, Employee #1, an employee of the industrial launderer service, was walking between dryers Number 2 and Number 3. He was struck and crushed by a conveyor shuttle, which transported linens from the washer to the dryers. Employee #1 apparently took a short cut, walking between the dryers as the conveyor shuttle traveled 50 ft from west to east and back, while loading the dryers with linens from the washer. A coworker found Employee #1 with his chest pinned between the shuttle and dryer. Another coworker moved the shuttle to manual, and Employee #1 fell to the floor. CPR was given, but Employee #1 did not respond to the treatment. Employee #1 was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
