Employee Sustains Fracture When Lift Topples

At 2:30 p.m. on March 22, 2005, Employee #1, of the Virginia Opera House, was operating a Genie lift without its outriggers while adjusting stage lighting. A coworker was assisting Employee #1 by pushing the Genie lift from one light to another. While it was being moved, the Genie lift became unstable and fell over with Employee #1 still inside. Employee #1 sustained multiple injuries, including at least one fracture, and was transported to the nearest medical facility by Norfolk Fire and Paramedical Services. She was hospitalized.
