Employee Fractures Ribs in Fall from Unguarded Scaffold

Employee #1, a day laborer, was hired to install siding over a holiday weekend. While working from an unguarded pump jack scaffold Employee #1 fell 17 ft to the ground striking his rib cage against a wooden fence and his head against an air conditioning unit. Employee #1 suffered fractured ribs and lacerations to his head and was transported to the shock trauma unit by helicopter. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
