Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201042140
Event: 02/10/2005
Employee Is Injured When Struck by Vehicle

On February 10, 2005, an employee was at the sink washing his hands, when a red Audi A4 exiting the wash area slid into the employee, first pinning him to the sink and then knocking him to the floor. The bumper of the car subsequently crushed part of the sink area. The coworker, the driver, was interviewed and stated that it is necessary to make a 90 degree turn in a 13 ft 3 in. area to enter the main garage adjacent to the wash area. There was water on the floor from a previously washed vehicle. The driver stated he was going between 2 to 3 MPH when he felt the car was beginning to slide. He pumped the brakes, trying to gain control, but the car slid faster, striking the employee. The right front corner of the bumper struck the employee. The employee was taken to UMC Trauma Center and released the same day with a bruised knee.
