Employee Is Killed When Struck by Lift Arms on Skid Steer

On December 14, 2005, Employee #1 was overhauling the motor on a Gehl 4625 Skid Steer Loader. He raised the lift arms on the machine with a 1 ton A-Frame hoist. The A-Frame hoist was approximately 6 ft above the ground. As Employee #1 reached inside the skid steer between the right side lift arm and frame, the hoist tipped over. He was struck by the lift arms, sustaining traumatic head injuries that killed him.
