Employee Injures Hand in Mixing Vat

At approximately 10:35 a.m. on August 24, 2005, an employee of Traffix Devices Inc. stuck his right gloved hand inside a tilted mixing vat, while the blade inside the vat was coasting down to a stop. The turning blade inside the mixing vat caught his glove and pulled in his hand and wrist. He sustained a crushing injury to his right hand. The employee was originally transported to a local clinic then was transported by an ambulance to a nearby airport, where he was taken to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by a helicopter. The employee underwent hand surgery and was hospitalized for six days.
