Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 2:20 p.m. on January 20, 2005, Employee #1 was standing on the second step of a four-foot step ladder in a home under construction, running wire for a ceiling fan. Employee #1 was wearing a tool belt and holding the tools he was using. Employee #1 was pushing wire through the "knockouts" in the joist. Employee #1 was pulling wire (from left to right) through the second "knockout" hole and was leaning to the right. Employee #1 started to fall; the ladder he was standing on followed him down to the concrete surface. Employee #1 sustained a right femoral fracture, and a head fracture when he fell. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
