Employee Is Burned in Electrical Arc Flash

At approximately 12:25 p.m. on October 24, 2006, Employee #1, an apprentice electrician, was wiring a switch rack for a transformer bank, low voltage. Coworkers saw Employee #1 exit the building and walk around the banks. He opened the energized cabinet, Bank Number 1, which was energized with 12kv. A flash occurred, knocking him unconscious. He suffered third degree burns to his left arm and side and second degree burns to his chest, right arm and lower back. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
