Employee Is Injured While Working with Table Saw

On June 22, 2004, Employee #1, working for City Picture Frame as a picture frame maker, was ripping a 20-in. long piece of wood on a Jet table saw to form a rectangular bracing on the back of a large picture frame. As Employee #1 was feeding the stock into the blade, it stopped at midway. He tried pushing it a little harder and it didn't move. At approximately 9:30 a.m., the wooden piece suddenly went through. As the wooden piece went past the unguarded blade, it also deeply lacerated three of his fingertips. He was taken to Davies Hospital by the employer. Employee #1 was treated for his severely lacerated upper left middle finger. The tip was sewn back with a pin inserted in place. He was also treated for his lacerated left and right index finger tips. The employee was hospitalized.
