Employee Is Injured after Glass Sheets Fall Off Cart

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on November 30, 2005, Employee #1 and Employee #2 were unloading 40-in. by 80-in. by 0.25-in. glass sheets from an A-frame rolling steel cart for seaming. There were two stacks of approximately 20-25 glass sheets on each end of one side of the A-Frame cart, weighing a total of 773 lbs. Employee #1 and Employee #2 had unloaded three glass sheets from one side of the cart onto the seaming table, when the other side of the cart tilted, causing glass sheets to fall onto Employee #1 and Employee #2. Employee #1 was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center for treatment for hip lacerations and three fractured ribs. He was hospitalized for 7 days. Employee #2 sustained minor injuries.
