Employee's Arm Is Fractured When Caught in Conveyor

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on February 25, 2006, Employee #1, a sanitation technician, was cleaning the conveyor systems in the fruit preparation room. The plastic-modular conveyor belts were removed from the conveyor to be cleaned and sanitized. Employee #1 hit the stop buttons which halts the operation of the conveyors. She reinstalled one of the belts and turned on the conveyor to see if it was properly installed. However, she thinks she turned on both conveyors by accident. She attempted to reinstall the other belt on the conveyor, and the revolving shaft pulled her arm in and it was wrapped around the shaft. She sustained multiple fractures to her left lower arm and was hospitalized.
