Employee's fingers are amputated in machine

On August 25, 2004, Employee #1 was operating a roll crusher machine which used two counter-rotating rollers to crush anthracite for use in the production of aluminum metal from ore. When he reached into the machine to retrieve a piece of debris, his right hand became caught between the rollers. Employee #1 was hospitalized at Union Memorial Hospital for the amputation of all four fingers on the right hand.
