Employee Suffers from Heat Dehydration

On August 14, 2006, Employee #1 had worked an 8-hour shift in 104-degree Fahrenheit temperatures. Employee #1 had been provided verbal heat prevention training, and had ample cold water and shade. At approximately 3:30 p.m. Employee #1 got into his car to return home when he began to feel severe leg and abdominal cramping. Employee #1 sat in his vehicle for approximately 20 minutes and then tried to drive. A short while later, the cramping got worse, and Employee #1 pulled over and called his wife. Employee #1 was taken to the emergency room and diagnosed with heat exposure and dehydration. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
